Ms. Georgia Spaulding, Principal
Georgia Etta Spaulding was raised just cross the Bladen County line in the Farmers Union community of Columbus County. She was raised with a hard work ethic
instilled into her through numerous years of work on the family farm. After graduating high school, she pursued a degree in Elementary Education from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC.
She began her educational career as a mathematics teacher at Harnett Central Middle while continuing to further her education by earning her Masters degree in
School Counseling from Campbell University. During this time, she stepped into a school counseling position where she continued to serve the students at Harnett
Central. As Ms. Spaulding followed her desire to be in school leadership, Ms. Spaulding attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington on a Principal Fellows scholarship and earned her Masters degree in School Administration.
Her first assignment in school administration was in 2001 as an assistant principal at West Columbus High School. The following year, she was appointed as principal at Chadbourn Middle School where she served the students and community until 2010. She then returned to Harnett County and took a position as principal of Johnsonville Elementary School. During that year, she moved home to help care for her sick mother while commuting back and forth to Johnsonville Elementary. In October 2011, she was presented with the opportunity to return back to Columbus County Schools as principal at Chadbourn Middle School where she remained until 2016. She served as principal at Evergreen Elementary (PreK-8 ) until 2022. In August 2022, she took leadership of East Bladen High School where she presently serves as principal.
Throughout the many years she has served in education, Ms. Spaulding has help lead schools to reach both Met and Expected growth recognition by the state. She
has also participated in many growth opportunities such as the Distinguished Leadership program and Principals as Technology Leaders. She has been nominated
several years as a Candidate for Principal of the Year and was the recipient of the Principal of the Year Award for Columbus County Schools in 2018.
Ms. Spaulding’s teaching, counseling, and school leadership have impacted the lives of thousands of students as she provided guidance, encouragement, leadership, and support. Her hard work ethic and passion for helping others continues to be intrinsic motivation which she brings to her position as a school leader.
Chris Carroll, Assistant Principal
Chris Carroll is excited to join the Eagles at the Nest this year. Originally from Chesapeake Virginia, Carroll earned his undergraduate degree in history education and began his career teaching at Northwest Guilford in Greensboro, North Carolina. He taught in Guilford County and Sampson County and was part of the founding faculty at Bladen Early College. He has continued to further his education, earning a master’s degree in theological education, history, and will complete his doctorate in educational administration and supervision in 2023. Recently, he was the assistant principal at Elizabethtown Middle School. He is also an adjunct instructor at Bladen Community College teaching religion, history, and critical thinking courses.
His philosophy is to provide student-centered learning opportunities that place an emphasis on helping students be future focused using the skills and knowledge learned to make an impact in their careers and their respective communities. In addition, he desires to empower educators to use various resources and strategies that will create life-changing lessons in a safe and enjoyable environment, while encouraging and praising them along the way for their efforts. He continues to develop his ability to lead and enjoys collaborating with all stakeholders to be empowered, encouraged, and excited about creating opportunities and changing lives within the school and community. He has a passion for the local school and strives each day to ensure that each student and staff member will know unequivocally he cares for their success not just in the classroom setting, but in all aspects of life.
Pam Bryant, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Bryant is a native of Bladen County who attended kindergarten through twelfth grade at Bladenboro schools. She graduated from Bladenboro High School as a NC Scholar and began attending UNC Pembroke in 1990. Mrs. Bryant began her career in education at Tar Heel Middle School in 2003 as a Social Studies teacher and NC Literacy Coach. In 2012, she moved to Bladenboro Middle School as a Social Studies teacher. While at BMS, she also taught Adult High School for Bladen Community College. She completed her Principal Internship at Clarkton School of Discovery and obtained her Masters of School Administration in 2018. In the 2022-2023 school year, she served as Assistant Principal of West Bladen High School. She is now Assistant Principal at East Bladen High School for the 2023-2024 school year.
